The Alzheimer's Society

Gracious Care raised £51.34 for Alzheimer's Society

A cup cake, a cup of coffee, a chat and at the same time, a fundraiser for a great cause. What's not to like!

We grabbed the opportunity to have a cup cake sale at the business networking group with both hands. And why not? A cake and a cuppa is a great way to introduce and chat about a subject that perhaps wouldn't normally crop up in conversation. At Gracious Care, we're passionate about raising awareness of all forms of dementia and for those unlucky enough to develop it, helping to make life just that little bit more bearable.

And whilst we were having a chat, we raised £41.34 for the Alzheimer's Society, boosted later by a further donation of £10. Thank you to all those generous folk at Orpington People in Business

Everything seems to be twinned these days. Towns and villages, even a bloke in the pub with a celebrity.  And now you can twin your toilet.

Whaaaaat? I hear you say. Sometimes we can take good sanitation for granted but 1 in 4 people worldwide don't have somewhere safe, private or hygienic to go to the toilet.

Gracious Care has twinned a toilet at our office. Toilet Twinning is a scheme which aims to improve sanitation in the 3rd world and our donation has provided a latrine in Malawi.

If you want to know more, have a look at www.toilettwinning.org

Perhaps you've got a toilet that hasn't been twinned yet.

We're proudly displaying our certificate in our loo. Don't forget to take a look when you come to see us.

Gracious Care Christmas 2021 Charities

Bromley Borough Food Bank will be our other recipient this year. Operated from Widmore Road United Reformed Church in Bromley under the Trussell Trust umbrella, a nationwide network of food banks providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

If you want to find out more about the Bromley Food Bank you can visit their pages on the Bromley United Reformed Church website https://www.bromleyurc.org.uk/food-bank.php and information about the Trussell Trust can be found at https://www.trusselltrust.org/

We've received a thank you letter

To all at Gracious Care,

We send our grateful thanks for the donation that was delivered to our Warehouse.

The total weight was 45.0kg.

It’s quite unreal to think how quickly this year has flown by and how many changes we have all had to adapt to, nowhere more than with those who are struggling to make ends meet.

With the rise in the price of petrol, the increase in gas prices to heat homes and the reduction of the weekly amount of Universal Credit, times are very tough and many more people are having to use Foodbank when in times past they would never have given this provision a second thought.

In the last month we have fed 377 Adults and 244 children, a total of 621 people.  Which is a big rise in our normal distribution of food.

We have only been able to meet the needs of those people in crisis in our Borough through the generous and faithful supports of donors like yourselves.

So, thank you once again,

Kind Regards,

June Hodson

You can see from this that their work is very much still required and we were pleased to do what we could.

Gracious Care Christmas 2019 Charities

Our Christmas Charities this year have been nominated by our staff.

We shall be using an innovative way of stimulating and sustaining interest in this enterprise. We'll be starting a reverse advent calendar. A what? Yes, that's right, a reverse advent calendar. Many calendars give a little token - perhaps a fragment of chocolate, a verse telling part of the Christmas story or display a seasonal image, perhaps a herald angel or bells. So, as you'd expect, a reverse advent calendar gives to others.

We won't be able to tell you how much we've raised this year but we'll have made a difference, given ourselves the opportunity to think both of others and the meaning of Christmas and we'll be having some fun along along the way. We'll publish a report on how we got on after Christmas.

Christmas Charity - The Hygiene Bank

Our first Christmas Charity is The Hygiene Bank.

The Hygiene Bank have an eye-catching tag line: 'Give the gift of dignity this Christmas'. This aligns so closely with the values of Gracious Care that it feels like a bit of a shoe-in.
